There are many reasons why demand for bison meat has been growing steadily this past decade. You may see it popping up more and more in your news sources, grocery stores, restaurants and conversations with other meat loving foodies.

1. It’s Lower in Fat.
Bison is a very lean meat. You’ll see it in the marbling (or lack there of) and how quickly it can cook. (Which is why we ALWAYS recommend cooking low and slow — bison cooks quickly!) You’ll see it in how little grease you have from cooking our 90% lean ground bison burger.
In fact, a 4 oz. serving of Ground Bison has 11g of fat – only 17% of the Daily Recommended Value (based of course on a 2000 calorie diet). At the same time, a 4 oz. serving of Bison Chuck Roast has only 3.5g of fat and a 6 oz. Bison Filet Mignon has 3g of fat.

2. Bison is tasty, tender and delicious.
You might be surprised, but most people agree that bison is quite tasty and very similar in taste to beef. (Not to mention all the other benefits we’re listing). 3. Bison is very versatile.
There is so much you can do with bison meat. Bison comes in all the same cuts as beef, and can be used in all the same ways.You can substitute ground bison in any recipe calling for a ground meat and there is so much you can do with bison roasts, steaks and burger.

4. Bison are naturally raised – no hormones, no steroids.
Did you know that it’s actually illegal to use steroids and growth hormones in raising bison? Members of the National Bison Association all adhere to certain standards and abide by the no growth hormones and no steroids rules. So, when you buy bison meat, whether it’s from us or some other reputable farmer, you can be certain that the bison were raised naturally and not pumped with hormones, antibiotics and steroids.
5. Bison are free range and ethically raised.
Bison are natural grazers, roaming freely, which means bison can be minimally handled and are humanely treated. Because of their roaming instincts, ranchers don’t have to worry as much about bison grazing areas dry and can let bison do their thing while still insuring the health of the grass and the land.
